Where is the music? Its the end of summer and everyone in the Reggae & Dancehall industry is jockeying for positions. The youths a sing “Bread” by “Cali FR”. Which is the hottest song trending in the streets of Jamaica. It’s been played on every street corner.  So we have a 50yr old Future Fambo that stole the summer. Back to back hit songs and content that supports his brand. Runkus had the best summer from the new wave of Reggae acts. SuperNova is a Grammy worthy album, plus he took time to go out there and meet the fans. He took time out to promote the project and he still is.
Dahvid Slur and the whole New Age Rockers is climbing up the Reggae and social ladder. The team is doing well and the people are resonating with them. Again what is this saying about how music is consumed?

A couple of albums that dropped by the end of August. Some that will be looked at by your peers on the Grammy board. Masicka signing to Def Jam has propelled his career. Hes NOT an indie act and with the support of the major label he has managed to tapp into mainstsrea. Skilli the same. Also to more effect seen by the duets and placements within his career. The act we were banking in as well was Chronic Law with no pun intended he’s in trouble with the law. Alkaline is being more vocal than he’s been in years. (even though little is still being said)
Yes and as for Vybz Kartel the biggest enigma to enter into the Dancehall space. He has found countless ways to reinvent himself and keep ties intact that has allowed growth since being home.

So is the culture doing OK? Is the cultural representation strong enough. Is there enough albums and quality products coming out of Jamaica? And I stress NO one star can run or carry any industry. Is it safe to say the youths have this under control? Is it safe to say for the first time in Jamaican history both generations can run concurrently? So far it’s a good look. To see Anthony B at the top of WYFL Riddim. While Skippa makes his mark. It’s good to see Fambo have the airwaves while Cali Fr has the underground. It’s good to see Chronixx, Dahvid, OJ Tha Great, all exist with Lutan Fyah, Queen Ifrica. Runkus looking forward to his grammy nomination.
