JCalm – Niche To Now

Some singers are all about range. Some singers are all about depth. Some it’s all in there delivery & topic. Well here in Jamaica we have a child prodigy by the name of (Jovane Gayle) aka J Calm. Still only 20 years old he has the soul of a 50 year old. What’s considered an old soul (which is rare in the entertainment industry). His vocals will amaze you and for someone still honing his craft he’s taken some big steps.

Originally from Clarendon J rose to stardom during the lock down. Singing and making content during the pandemic. His Reggae/Pop/ Synergy caught on. The style was unique and so was his presence.
He rose to fame when his track “Tempted” made it to the presidents Playlist in 2023. So much so that Barack Obama is an actual fan. Since then he’s not looked back.

“Niche” is debut album with hit single Call My Name” and the Remix featuring Sean Paul.
He’s had tours and shows with the likes of Sean Paul. His debut album allowed him to see a different side of life and entertainment which prepared him for his sophmore album. ” I wanted to push the boundaries of my creativity & explore other styles, cadences and more”. Stated a young JCalm.

His sophmore project shows a whole new side of maturity. He’s now legally an adult and we can hear it in the track’s. He’s pulling from different elements and trials in his life. He made it a point of duty to not only hone his craft but also allowing his emotions to become a part of the project.

Examples are tracks like:  Kilimanjaro – A stand out track for J. The concept came via his fan base. He recognized what it means to love someone or something that is half way around the world. The fact that love will make you go all the way.
Dilerium –  Also taken from a dark space in life. It’s the track for him that addresses mental illness. A taboo subject in the Jamaican society. Especially amongst men and people in the entertainment circuit.

Overall his approach to music is one of life imitating art. He’s working alongside juggernauts in the industry which at times can be overwhelming but satisfying when he earns their approval via being himself. JCalm has curated a name for himself as a laid back intricate man. From that space he has developed “Calm Nation”. It’s a community for his fans and people who need a safe space to be themselves. His stardom has never overshadowed his grounding. He wants the best for himself and the people around him and that’s a brand I would invest in.

This is part one of the J Calm story. This is the intro into the world of potentially the next biggest superstar out of Jamaica. We here at Urbanvine welcome you to the world of Calm…
