IP & Entertainment To The Rescue

Jamaica has just experienced one of the worst hurricanes in the history of the island. We have heard comments from so many parts of the world and from media houses from Jamaica to Japan.
We have seen many individuals scream at the IP & Entertainment Industry to immediately come to the rescue of the people. It’s been on my mind as much as the people in St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland & Clarendon. Can the IP industry really push the boundaries and dent the number of what is really needed to help rebuild JA?

Can you see a world where entertainment and all the amalgamated companies lift a nation after such a disaster? Is there enough actors, singers, publicist, musicians, Artisans to get the nation jump-started? Despite all the differences and our view points of how or who is responsible for this. The question still remains is there enough resources? Well on spaces we see, read and hear that it’s possible.

Jamaica has an estimated three billion in IP that comes through the industry per year. So we are all aware that it takes way more to rebuild than taking from the lives and incomes of our acts & diaspora.

What is for sure is the entertainment industry has showed up. The Marque names have been at the forefront of the relief efforts.
This convo is really an objective view shared by the nation. Now we’re looking at a telethon. Again calling on the very names that have been championing the fight. If left up to an independent auditing company we might be surprised to see the numbers in terms of sweat equity and tenders.

The question is “will the entertainment sector be recognized now & will the government look at the IP sector as an industry they should be readily investing in?”

Our culture and entertainment sector is the ones carrying the burden & message on behalf of our people. Again these were thoughts expressed by many within the industry.
IP & Entertainment to the rescue.
